Sunnyview Foundation Press Release 2/25/25
Sunnyview Foundation Inc. met in its regularly scheduled meeting on February 25, 2025, in the conference room of Grundy County Nursing Home District under the name of Sunnyview Nursing Home and Apartments.
The Sunnyview Foundation Inc. is a 501c3 organization whose purpose is to promote, advance, encourage, assist and support the growth, development and operation of the Grundy County Nursing Home Disctrict and the services provided to the residents and staff therein. On behalf of the betterment of the Sunnyview residents, the Sunnyview Foundation welcomes tax-deductible donations, either restricted or non-restricted, to enhance life for the Grundy County and other residents. The Foundation promotes the opportunity to “care for those who have cared for us” for the residents.
During the business section of the Foundation, financials were presented and bills were paid. Funds were moved from the general account into a 12 month CD. Donations for the newly established Sunnyview Scholarship received from the estate of Sarah Joe and Tom Brown Estate and from Richard and Mary Binney and Chuck Hughes in honor of their mother Jean Hughes, were also moved into a 12 month CD with the Farmer’s Bank of Northern Missouri.
The Sunnyview Scholarship is established to benefit employees of Sunnyview to further their health care studies and movement toward a degree advancement. Application for this scholarship will be made through the NCMC Scholarship process.
Discussion was help on an upcoming property tax proposal in support of the delivery of servies in the nursing home district that will be on the ballot on April 8, 2025. Four of the Foundation members are serving on the COmmunity Citizens for Support of Sunnyview Committee for the property tax that was established in Grundy County in the early 1970’s. The CCSS meets on Tuesdays, 3:30 p.m. in the conference room of Serve Link at 1510 E. 9th Street. All interested community members are encouraged to attend these meetings. A donation in support of the CCSS expenses was received from Helen and Ronnie Swank.
Shara Martin was selected Employee of the Quarter and will receive $75.00, a monogramed drinking tumbler, and her choice of parking place for this quarter.
Administrator Trish Smith reported the census at the nursing home to be 48 in the skilled nursing facility and 11 in the residential care facility (Apartments). Additionally, the administrator announced that Melanie Brown has been welcomed as the new Director of Nursing.
A bid was received and approved from LawnWorks LLC to provide services for improvements in the landscaping at the main entrance of the Sunnyview Nursing Home.
Sunnyview Foundation Inc. members include Phyllis Jackson, Helen Swank, Marjorie Keuhn, Vickie Bowe, Virginia Brassfield Briegel, and Vickie Ferguson.
